How To Plan A Special Funeral Service For Your Loved One On A Budget

Dealing with the loss of someone that was very dear to you is never easy. The memories seem to pour in non-stop, sometimes making it difficult for you to eat, sleep and even work. If the individual who has departed didn't have a lot of money it can be tough to figure out how to handle their remains. A cremation is a great option because it is much more affordable than a traditional funeral, but you also still want to have a service to commemorate their lives. Here are a few tips to help you plan a funeral service when you're working on a tight budget.

Plan An Outdoor Service

Although you might think that you have to have a funeral service inside of a church this isn't the case at all. There are so many places where you can hold a gathering of close family and friends without having to spend a lot of money.

Try to think of some of the places that your loved one used to go to. Maybe they were a big fan of the ocean or there was a park that they went to on a regular basis. Most public spaces are completely free to go to and you can easily ask everyone to meet up at dusk and hold a candlelight vigil for the departed that will be every bit as meaningful as one that is held at a church or funeral home.

Make It A Celebration

Instead of holding a somber event that makes everyone feel sad and depressed, why not make the entire event a grand celebration? Create a menu of some affordable foods and email it to the guests. Ask that everyone select an item that they can bring and mark it off the list as the replies come in.

Once the menu is settled it's time to think about the venue. You can hold the repass in your home or backyard and make it seem like a wonderful celebration. Give each person the floor and let them talk about the relationship they had with the departed. It's an incredible way to honor the person's life without you having to go broke in the process.

Funeral services are all about paying homage to the life of the person who is now deceased. It doesn't have to cost a lot of money for you to create a ceremony that is memorable for everyone involved.

About Me

Making A New Family

I always wanted to have a child, but after I finally got pregnant, I was nervous to find out I was expecting twins. I couldn't believe that in a few short months I would have a family of my own, but I knew that it would be hard. I decided that I wanted to do everything I could to create a strong, stable family, so I started investing more and more of my time into my family. I spent a lot of time working with my kids to help them to understand moral values, and now that they are five, I am proud to say that they treat others with an immense amount of kindness.
